Susie Beckham is a PhD student at the University of York, where she is undertaking research (supervised by Professor Liz Prettejohn) to identify when critics first comprehended the emergence of a second phase of Pre-Raphaelitism. Following on from her Masters degree research at Birkbeck (University of London) and her dissertation titled “Recovering Anna Alma-Tadema”, Susie continues to write and research the life and work of Alma-Tadema and is currently seeking to uncover forgotten and lost sources to provide a framework for deeper exploration of this frequently neglected artist.
