Research interests:
My research spans the aesthetic, decadent and modernist movements (c.1870-1940) with an emphasis on the fin-de-siècle. My doctoral thesis explores reconfigurations of childhood and youth in decadent literature, considering the child both as a subject of adult fiction and a reader of juvenile fiction.
Other research interests include the literary marketplace, queer studies, sensationalist writing and celebrity, nineteenth-century journalism and the relationship between aesthetics and science.
