I'm a second year part-time PhD student at the University of Sussex.
My current research centres around the significance of the representations of solitary children that emerge in the art and literature of the Victorian fin de siècle, with a particular emphasis on the art of Thomas Cooper Gotch, and the literary works of Henry James, Stephen Crane, Arthur Symons, Samuel Butler, and Sarah Grand.
My thesis is titled 'Narratives of Isolation: Space, Place, and the Solitary Child in Late-Nineteenth Century Art and Literature'.
I am supervised by Professor Lindsay Smith.
