Guo Xiaotong received her doctorate in English literature from Fudan University in 2023 and she is currently a lecturer in College of Foreign Languages in East China University of Science and Technology. Her research interests include Victorian literature and culture, intellectual history and finance and literature. Her doctoral dissertation “From Bildungsroman to Home Epic: Order, Progress and Meliorism in George Eliot’s Novels” analyzes how Eliot develops her idea of meliorism through the changing forms of her novels. Her latest publication is ‘“Survival of the Fittest” and George Eliot’s Critique of Capitalism in The Mill on the Floss’ on George Eliot-George Henry Lewes Studies.
