I am an Edinburgh based Historian of Medicine. My recently completed doctoral project 'The Healing Arts' explored the relationship between madness, creativity and patient expression through a historical enquiry into the nature of arts-based therapies in British Asylum Culture 1840-1914. My wider research interests include histories of psychiatry, madness, mental health and reproductive health, social and cultural history, gender studies, performance studies and the study of material culture.
