Research interests:
I work on contemporary historical fiction, with a special interest in neo-Victorianism and the intersections between re-evocations of the nineteenth century and imperial legacies.
I am also interested in material feminism, eco-criticism, intertextuality, travel studies and cultural memory.
I have published articles on neo-Victorian gold-rush fiction by Eleanor Catton, Rose Tremain and Isabel Allende, the aftermaths of neo-Victorianism in David Mitchell, and A. S. Byatt.
I have co-edited Crossing Borders in Imperial Travel: Nations, Cultures, Empires (Cambridge Scholars 2018), and am in the process of writing a monograph on A. S. Byatt and intertextuality.
