In a world that has warmed to the ‘Alexa’s’ existence, can a transition from non-user to friendly-user be facilitated by a talking computer that can guide and help through an online navigation? If that is a possible solution, could this provide direction for developers in the way that they design systems, making them more vocal and independent, and in charge of people’s ability to use a computer? This would facilitate people’s incursion into the digital world, as the system should be designed to match their requirements.

A move towards voice-based or conversational user interfaces (VUIs / CUIs) is one potential way of addressing these outstanding challenges of usability of digital systems for currently excluded populations.

Final application for this PhD: connect with heritage management in different sites to connect them with worldwide population.
